Alice Faye: "Are You in the Mood For Mischief?" (Tail Spin - 1939)

Lovely, sultry song, sung by Alice Faye in the 1939 drama "Tail Spin." This wonderful tune is a neglected classic, and it was the song that made this film fan fall in love with Alice Faye's "honey-dipped contralto."

Caution: This number has been playing in my head for weeks now. Don't watch if you're as fond of this type of song and dance as I am or you too will be trapped.

Came here because someone said "spinach" in a podcast, and this popped into my head. On another note, I wanted to like spinach so bad when I was a kid thanks to Popeye (I wanted to be strong too) but it was horrible. Helpful hint to parents trying to get their kid to eat spinach, make creamed spinach, or add a pat (or 1/2 a pat) of butter to a serving. That got me, my children, and those I've babysat, to happily eat spinach.

This song proves what I have said many times, and will say for the rest of my life. They didn't write songs back then, they worked miracles.

I think there was no need to make her look like Jean Harlow. Alice was just as beautiful as herself. And she could sing!

This hairstyle looks weirdly modern in this clip. Her singing style and voice 'ages' better than other 1930s singers. She willingly left her movie contract in mid 40s, doing a few cameos years later. She had a 54 yr happy marriage with Phil Harris, and lived into her 80s.
